Summer is officially approaching
Flexicover have put together some of our favourite European island holidays if you are still undecided…
Madeira, Portugal: For colonial charm close to Tenerife, Madeira is a wonderful choice. Referred to as the ‘Pearl of the Atlantic’, natural beauty, culture and history flow across this island in unison making it a perfect holiday escape! Explore the local markets and pretty mountain villages and bring back some Madeira wine (made infamous by Flanders and Swann) and of course the Madeira cake – a real favourite!
Majorca, Spain: The Big Brother of the Balearic Islands, Majorca is a fabulous island and a perfect holiday destination. With its magnificent coastline and sandy beaches, Majorca has something for everyone. Visit its tiny villages and explore Palma, the buzzing capital. It will be sunny throughout the summer for sure!
Sicily, Italy: The largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily oozes with art, archaeology, history, culture and breathtaking scenery any time of the year! For the most stunning views, visit the popular and fashionable area of Taormina and enjoy the richness of its natural beauty. It offers stylish shopping, great food and true Italian hospitality. Sicily is worshipped for its pastries and sweets, so some cannoli or cassata will make for just desserts!
Crete, Greece: The largest and most popular Greek island, Crete has everything from beautiful beaches to charming towns and villages, mountainous landscapes and a throbbing night life. Whether it is a family break, a romantic getaway or a holiday with friends, Crete is an enchanting island, full of fun. Take a trip up the mountains and discover its famous monastery – the Arkadi – and a memorable day out!
Gozo, Malta: Gozo, Malta’s sister island and part of the Maltese archipelago is rural and rustic with scenic hills as featured on its coat of arms. If you want to recharge those batteries in a haven of pure tranquillity and peace then look no further! For a small island, Gozo has a high concentration of churches – 22 of them. The Xewkiija Church can seat 3,000 people and its dome is larger than St Paul’s in London! If you visit the capital, Victoria, you can’t miss its fortified citadel that dominates the town’s skyline!
