Rome has so much culture, so many activities and so much to see and do that it is essential to tick off as many boxes as possible on a visit. Sound Good Festival
If you want to look forward to some summer sounds, the “July Sounds Good” event. Despite the name, this actually starts in June and runs all the way through until August every year. It is a variety of different concerts and shows in an amazing open-air setting of the Cavea. Huge names appear here, the 2011 line up included Joe Cocker, George Benson and even Elton John! Ticket prices vary dramatically and do tend to sell out fast so always try and book well in advance and don’t forget to take your camera!
The Roma Wine Festival
You can’t visit Rome without enjoying a glass of wine. Maybe two. The Roma Wine Festival should certainly be on your agenda. It takes place in May and, depending on the day you attend, can be as little as 5 Euro’s for a ticket. Here you will be able to enjoy more than wine tasting and bargains. You will be treated to full presentations and even workshops on how to enjoy wine, how to select wine and what wine goes with which meal. You can learn the science behind every bottle and even be taken through the entire production process. The festival takes place at the Citta’ del Gusto. There are plenty of public transport links that will get you within walking distance, or alternatively and cab driver will know exactly where it is. In fact, there is a good chance he will be on his way there too!
And don’t worry; it’s not all chats and workshops! You do still get to enjoy more than your fair share of free samples of some of the best wines that Italy has to offer and there are a number of vendors selling some amazingly good quality bottles at massively discounted prices so it is easy to get a few bargains to take home before your trip comes to an end!
A week in Rome will be packed with activities – you won’t want to waste a minute, so look out for cheap flights to Rome and save your pennies to enjoy at one of their fantastic events!
