Three Fabulous Events For A Paris Holiday
When people think of visiting Paris, it’s easy to be drawn to the traditional tourist spots such as the Eiffel Tower. However, if you have visited Paris before, or enjoy doing different things, here are a few ideas for an alternative Paris “to do” list! It’s so quick to get to Paris – so if you want a different sort of weekend away, a few minutes checking will bring up lots of cheap flights to this gorgeous city.
The Paris High Heels Race
One of Paris’ most bizarre events is the annual Paris High Heel Race. This is held every year in December and is truly a site to be seen. Teams of people don their high heels, to take part in a race through Paris, and the finishing line is always based by a famous Paris monument. The monument changes each year and the race is always well attended with no shortage of Manolo’s! The prize is a shoe lovers dream, thousands of euros in vouchers to spend at Sarenza’s, one of Paris’ favourite shoe shops and the sponsor of the event. It’s great fun, anyone can enter and it’s a real spectacle for bystanders. There is also plenty of free entertainment and performers surrounding the event, too which all makes it a great day out.
Paris Dog Show
The Paris Dog Show is another event well worth attending. This isn’t just any dog show; this is a Parisian dog show! So expect plenty of over-the-top fashion and eccentricity. You will see pink and yellow dogs as well as dogs dressed in the latest designer fashions, sporting trendy haircuts and doing things that you just wouldn’t expect!
The show runs throughout January every year and costs just 8 Euro’s for a ticket. Under 12’s get in totally free and the doors open at 9am to provide a long and full day of various different events and awards which will see a variety of different courses, tricks and poses from some of the prettiest (and strangest!) dogs that you have ever seen!
Centre National Des Arts Du Cirque
If you like the sound of dogs doing tricks and dressed up in funny clothes, then you may be even more interested in the Centre National Des Arts Du Cirque. This is a huge circus that sets up in Paris between January and February every single year. It sports a huge big top and has some of the best performers in the world. You will be able to enjoy some of the strangest, most bizarre and most awe-inspiring acts ever seen. There is a huge variety of events – so children and adults audiences will definately experience the wow factor.
It’s around 20 Euro’s for a ticket for adults – but worth every cent since – it’s a huge circus and there are concessions for children and pensioners at 15 Euro’s per ticket. So a family trip with flybe could be on the cards for a great weekend in Paris!
