Winter Treats In Las Vegas
Christmas is a great time to visit Las Vegas. Since the key US holiday is Thanksgiving, you can pick up some major bargains over the Christmas Holiday season. Make sure you’ve booked though – since prices are low this season, it will get busy.
Bellagio Hotel
Known for its luxurious interior, unique art work, and amazing dancing fountain outside the hotel. There’s a lot more to this hotel than gambling – so when you’re tired of the slot machines take a stroll into the fresh air, and watch the beautiful water fountains. The Fountains “dances” to music such as
• Carol of the Bells by Los Angeles Master Chorale
• Hallelujah Chorus by Mormon Tabernacle Choir
• It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas by Johnny Mathis
• Holy Night by Placido Domingo
• Santa Baby by Madonna
• Sleigh Ride by Johnny Mathis
• The Most Wonderful Time of the Year by Johnny Mathis
• We Need a Little Christmas by Johnny Mathis
• Winter Games by David Foster
Meanwhile, the Bellagio Conservatory comes alive with life-size polar bears made out of white carnations and a Christmas wonderland toy train scene complete with a very large Bellagio working train. Pay special attention to the flying reindeer.
Best Christmas Light Display
One of the best Christmas light display takes places at the Ethel M’s Cactus Garden – over half a million twinkling lights are put up! Each year, the cactus garden, at 2 Cactus Drive, decorates over 300 species of plants with Christmas lights. Connected to the facility is a chocolate factory that features many wonderful Christmas candies including pecan butter brittle, pumpkin pie caramel pieces, eggnog caramel pieces, French vanilla caramel pieces – the list goes on. The display is open each evening, except Christmas Day, from 5 PM to 10 PM.
Best Christmas Dinner
If you are looking for a really special treat, a great place to try out for the ultimate Christmas dinner is the Restaurant Guy Savoy. While the menu has not been announced for this year yet, last year diners sampled exquisite black truffles, oysters in ice Gelee, marinated lobster, crispy sea bass bathed in delicate spices – lots to choose from their enticing menu! You will have to book as this is one of the Las Vegas hotspots.
Best Christmas Shopping
Crystal’s Mall really comes alive at Christmas time with the 500,000-square-foot mall featuring many special displays. Expect the mall to be packed with last minute shoppers and many bargains may be found at such high-end shops as Louis Vuitton, Tiffany and Company, Christian Dior, Hermes and Prada.
Best Christmas Show
Mannheim Steamroller Christmas Vegas show is sure to please everyone who enjoys great Christmas music. Great choreography, aerial displays and state-of-the-art multimedia effects are packed into the performance. The sounds of Deck the Halls, Silent Night and We Three Kings will never sound the same, once you’ve experienced this troupe, headed by Chip Davis.
Christmas is a wonderful time to come to Las Vegas. In addition to all of the above, expect all of the casinos to be open on Christmas Day.
